Who
We Are
SONHawaii members and supporters
come from all parts of the island--Waianae to Waialae, Makaha to
Manoa--and from all walks of life. We are employees, business people,
attorneys, professors, auto mechanics, engineers, and homemakers. We
are young couples, grandparents, and retirees. Some of us were born and
raised here; some of us are newer to the islands, but now kama'aina.
Our common bond is a love for O’ahu, care for our communities and the
"quiet enjoyment of our homes," and concern that our zoning laws are
upheld. We believe in the residential integrity of our neighborhoods
and will work to protect them against destabilizing incursions of any
kind. We support the visitor industry and welcome visitors to enjoy
accommodations in areas zoned for resort and resort-mixed-use. Or in
legal short-term vacation rentals (less than 30 days) with
non-conforming use certificates.
Given our island’s severe housing shortage, the need for residential
rentals is more critical than ever. Please kokua!
Mahalo for your kokua in helping preserve the residential island way of
life on O‘ahu.
